Roma and Rennes are in contact to complete a deal for Lorenz Assignon.
The French right-back is currently next in line on Roma’s summer shortlist.
Following his loan at Burnley, Assignon is expected to leave Rennes on a permanent deal.
Hence Rennes’ rejection of Roma’s first offer: the French club insist on making the player’s exit permanent.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, the two clubs are continuing negotiations.
In recent hours, Stade Rennais opened to the possibility of a loan with obligation to buy based on the number of appearances made.
Roma are now evaluating whether to formulate the offer in this way which would allow them to close the deal. Contacts continue to reach an agreement.
