In addition to settling for just one point in their opening match against Atlas, América have been hit with an injury blow to Roger Martínez.
Reports in Mexico claim the attacker has picked up a muscle injury in his left leg and is expected to be out for almost one month.
As a result, Martínez would miss the matches against Monterrey and Toluca as well as the friendlies against Chelsea and Manchester City.
The news is a letdown for América as the 28-year-old is a vital member of the attacking front with 30 goals and 14 assists to his name.
An official confirmation on the extent of the injury is yet to be released but the hope is that Martínez can return for the clash against Club Tijuana on 23 July.
