Rodri has become Manchester City’s ultimate good luck charm and continued the trend in Wednesday’s clash with Aston Villa.
The Spain international had famously failed to taste defeat in 63 outings for the reigning Premier League and European champions, and he isn’t stopping there.
A first-half opener at the Etihad Stadium marked his fifth goal against the Villains, a career best after failing to score past any other opponent more than three times.
But Rodri also chalked up his eighth goal of the campaign in all competitions to eclipse his most prolific return from nine seasons at the elite level.
Rodri’s talismanic qualities were soon put to the test as Villa snatched a superb equaliser through Jhon Durán just nine minutes later.
But the enforcer finished on the winning side again after Phil Foden’s impressive hat-trick made it 64 games not out.
