Rodrigo Muniz: No new Fulham contract despite growing transfer interest | OneFootball

Fulham are in no rush to offer Rodrigo Muniz an improved contract, despite growing interest in the in-form Brazilian striker.

Muniz is the top scorer in the Premier League in 2024, with eight goals in his past eight games, and he scored a stunning injury-time bicycle kick to earn Fulham a 3-3 draw at Sheffield United on Saturday, with top clubs now tracking his progress.

The 22-year-old, who is expected to have recovered from an ankle injury to start at Nottingham Forest tonight, is under contract until 2026, with the option of an extra year. Muniz is believed to be on modest terms but, while the prospect of a new deal has been discussed internally by Fulham officials, no talks are planned.

Head coach Marco Silva told Standard Sport: "He signed five years in 2021 and there is an option [for an additional year] in the contract.

"Are we going to do something soon or summer or next season? We have to wait. We are calm about that situation. It's not going to be situations like contracts that will disturb his run."

Silva revealed on Monday that Muniz missed eight days' training during the international break with a "bad ankle injury".

He played through pain at Bramall Lane, where his equaliser earned Fulham a point from 3-1 down.

Silva has revealed Fulham tried to sign Armando Broja as Aleksandar Mitrovic's replacement after his move to Saudi Arabia last summer.

Broja eventually joined on loan from Chelsea at the end of the January window but, due to the red-hot form of Muniz, has barely featured.
