Marco Silva says Rodrigo Muniz is still “not 100 per cent” fit after he suffered an ankle injury during the international break, but hopes the Brazilian will be fit for Fulham’s match at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
Muniz is in blistering form after scoring eight goals in his last eight league games — the most of any Premier League player in 2024 — but had to pass a late fitness test before starting in the 3-3 draw with Sheffield United on Saturday, in which he scored a late equaliser.
The 22-year-old is still carrying swelling on his ankle and will be given a final assessment after training on Monday to determine his readiness to face Forest.
“He twisted his ankle during the international break”, Silva explained. “He had a bad injury. He was out of training for eight days. There was really bad swelling in that ankle. He did well to get fit again.
“Luckily, he is reacting well from the game. I had a chat with him yesterday. The feedback from the medical staff looks like he is probably going to be okay for the match. He’s not 100 per cent.
“We are going to assess him again [on Monday]. He got that injury ten days before the match.”
Besides Muniz, Silva has a clean bill of health for his team ahead of their away game at Forest, who Fulham thrashed 5-0 in the reverse fixture at Craven Cottage back in December.
Silva said: “We keep assessing the players from Saturday’s match. We don’t have anything serious from the last game. We are probably going to have all the players for the match.”
Fulham have scored 46 league goals so far this term, and Silva believes his team will beat last season’s tally of 55 by the end of the campaign.
“The last two or three months, not just in terms of goals but in terms of chances created, the team is really growing,” he continued. “We probably should have been scoring more. I really believe we are going to achieve it.
“It’s nice that everybody notices we have good options [up front]. At the beginning of the season, everyone was saying we were going down because we didn’t have options. That’s how football changes so quickly.”
