City midfielder Rodrigo says he was left speechless by Stefan Ortega Moreno’s performance in our precious 2-0 Premier League win over Spurs.

The German goalkeeper replaced Ederson in the second half at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the Brazilian was withdrawn after bravely colliding with Cristian Romero.

At the time, Pep Guardiola’s side were leading thanks to Erling Haaland’s opener and we had Ortega to thank for preserving our lead before the Norwegian’s stoppage-time penalty.

He first denied Dejan Kulusevski from close range before preventing Heung-min Son’s effort after the latter broke clear of our defence and drove into the box.

And Rodrigo paid tribute to the German and City’s mentality in the crucial success.

“Stefan was just simply incredible,” he declared.

“One-nil up if they scored we were out. [He made] outstanding three saves, I have no words.

“The mentality of these guys and the substitutions. We have to talk about the substitutions today.

“Stefan saved us, Jeremy [Doku] was unbelievable and all the players who came in were exceptional. This talks about the team.”

The victory in north London means City will claim a record fourth straight Premier League title with three points in our final league assignment of the term – a home fixture with West Ham.

However, Rodrigo says Guardiola’s team are taking nothing for granted in what’s been a rollercoaster of a title race so far as we look to make history on Sunday.

He added: “We have the experience of Aston Villa [in 2021] so we know it’s not done.

“We know it’s going to be tough but with our people and crowd, we need their support because we need the last effort. If we do it we can change the history.”
