Argentina midfielder Rodrigo de Paul wasn't afraid to praise his country for their performance after beating France to win the 2022 World Cup.
It took 120 minute of epic football and a penalty shootout for the winner of the tournament to be decided, with the two nations playing out to a 3-3 draw before Argentina prevailed 4-2 from the shootout.
De Paul played a key role for La Albiceleste throughout the tournament in Qatar and did so again against France, but complimented the entire squad for their attitudes and performances throughout.
Speaking after being crowned World Cup winners, the Atletico Madrid man said: "We suffered a lot, but it feels so good. We were born to suffer, it hardens us, as we are going to suffer all our lives.
"We always carry the flag everywhere; I hope our fans are as happy as we are.”
28-year-old De Paul was key for Lionel Scaloni as Argentina lifted the Copa America last year and featured in every single game for his country in Qatar as they went all the way.
Providing industry and bite, the midfielder put in an all-action display as the protector for La Albiceleste in the middle of the park.
