Rodrigo de Paul: “Compete against Barça and Madrid? I have confidence in this squad.” | OneFootball

In an interview with Marca, Rodrigo de Paul revealed his thoughts regarding the upcoming season.

The Argentine midfielder believes that Los Colchoneros had a great pre-season:

“I think the most important thing of all is that we were able to have a great pre-season all together. There were no late arrivals and we needed that. There were no national team competitions that didn’t allow us to be all together. We were able to work on the physical and footballing aspects of our game.”

De Paul also thinks that Atléti are ready to compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona in their upcoming La Liga campaign:

“For sure, Barcelona and Real Madrid, who have strengthened their squad, have great teams. However, I’m confident in the squad we have. I’m very sure that we’re going to have a great year and give plenty of joy for the fans.”

“Last year the team performed well, but what we lacked was consistency. We are going to try not to falter and hopefully this year will be better than last year.”
