Rodrigo Caio has called on Flamengo to pull together ahead of the most important week of their season to date.
The Rubro-Negro have been in awful form of late, but find themselves only eight points behind leaders São Paulo and with two games in hand.
Rogério Ceni’s side face three away games on the bounce, starting with a clash in Goiás on Monday.
“We know that these are difficult times because you are away from your family, from the people you are always with,” centre-back Caio said, per Gazeta Esportiva.
“But it’s a time for us to get together more and more. We have a very important week, in which I believe that these three games will define this final stretch of the Brasileirão a lot.”
Following their game at Goiás, Flamengo will move on to Palmeiras on Thursday before meeting Athletico Paranaense on Sunday.
“I believe that we are more alive than ever, and that is what is most important,” Caio continued.
“Unfortunately, we had some negative results in the last rounds, but in terms of the table and the score, it didn’t affect us that much.”
In addition to the club’s hopes of retaining the league title, Ceni’s job as manager is also on the line as pressure mounts following the Mengão’s recent slump.
