Manchester City midfielder Rodri admits playing for manager Pep Guardiola can be "lonely".
Rodri is City's prime defensive midfielder.
And he told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Sometimes it's lonely.
"But it is the price that must be paid to play attacking and create many chances. A challenge that I really like: the presence of so many attacking players makes my role very important, I know that I have to give my best and with continuity. It is a key position and I am happy with how I have grown over the years.
"Guardiola tells me to be the coach on the field. He compares my position to that of a lighthouse: 'Don't move, let everything revolve around you,' he tells me."
