We’ve featured Brendan Rodgers’ exclusive interview earlier today with Celtic TV, regarding the Celtic manager’s thoughts on Elena Sadiku’s Celtic FC title triumph at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon and you can read what Brendan had to say about that wonderful achievement HERE.

The Celtic manager also spoke about his excitement of taking part in the expanded Champions League with a new format that will guarantee at least eight matches for participants rather than six and will also see clubs playing many more opponents.

“It’s very exciting because you get those extra couple of games at that level. For us, whether that’s for football development, whether it’s financial, it’s a huge benefit for a club like ours.

“But from a football perspective, I’m always really excited about testing ourselves against the very best teams.”

That’s for next season though and before that there’s the not insignificant matter of the first ever Glasgow Derby Scottish Cup Final at Hampden on Saturday afternoon the Celtic manager gave an insight into the mood inside the Celtic training centre at Lennoxtown.

“It’s pretty much relaxed but focused,” Brendan said about the Celtic preparation behind the scenes. “It was nice at the weekend to celebrate, but now our focus is very much on this Scottish Cup final.

“We’re preparing to bring a similar performance to what we did against Kilmarnock in the game. So we’ve had some really good preparation.

“We’re playing on a fantastic surface. It’s the last showpiece game of the season, and again we want to come and bring our best selves to that, and look to finish what would be a fantastic season.”
