Celtic fans worst fears have been realised with Brendan Rodgers confirming Jota is set to be out for "six to nine months" with an ACL injury.
The Portuguese winger was substituted after just 35 minutes in the 5-0 title clinching win at Dundee United, and was on crutches when he joined his team mates for the post-match celebrations.
After being assessed, it has been confirmed that the 26-year-old is set for a lengthy stint in the treatment room.
Speaking ahead of their Old Firm clash with Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday, Brendan Rodgers said: âSadly for us and for him, heâll be out for a period of time, probably six to nine months. Itâs the cruciate and it was worse than we had hoped. He starts on his journey of recovery from that now.â
Jota only returned to Celtic in January from Rennes,18 months after his departure to Al Ittihad in a club record ÂŁ35m sale.
He scored five goals and two assists in his 16 appearance since, becoming a fan favourite once again among the Bhoys faithful, but will now not been seen until midway through next season.
