Paul Robinson has warned Rangers not to take their eye off the ball after a number of off-field developments over the past few weeks.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Steven Gerrard must ensure his squad are focused ahead of this weekend’s Old Firm clash.

The SFA confirmed on Thursday that the Gers have appealed the decision to ban Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey, Brian Kinnear, Dapo Mebude and Bongani Zungu for breaking coronavirus rules earlier this year.

While UEFA announced their rulings regarding an incident which saw Glen Kamara racially abused by Slavia Prague’s Ondrej Kudela in the Europa League last month.

Kudela has been handed a 10-game ban, while Kamara and Kemar Roofe have been given three and four-game bans respectively.

Robinson is confident that the ongoings off the field will not effect the Light Blues’ performance against Celtic in the Scottish Cup this weekend.

“There has been a little bit going on off the field at Rangers recently and Steven’s biggest task this week will be getting them focused on Celtic,” he told Football Insider. “I’m sure he will.

“Complacency could be a factor given that Rangers have won two and drawn one of the last three Old Firms. But there is no real reason to say why they couldn’t win the next two, they are in great form.

“This game means so much and if there is one that they will definitely be up for between now and the end of the season, let’s be honest, this is the one.”
