The German international has enjoyed a fine first year at Leeds United and within English football, and he explained how he is learning and improving his game every day in training.

Looking back to last weekend’s convincing win over Tottenham at Elland Road, the defender stated that it was one of the best performances of the campaign but it didn’t surprise him that the team are capable of a display like that.

“I think it was a great game from all of the team and now some days later, you have some time to think about the game and it was one of the best we’ve played this season,” Koch explained.

“I think we improve every day as a team and at the end of the season, to do a game like this, it’s for me nothing special because you train every day with these guys and the connection gets better.

“We keep learning every day in training, so for me, it is not surprising. We know what we can show on the pitch, this was a really good performance but I am still not surprised.”

Next up for Robin and his teammates is the trip to Lancashire on Saturday lunchtime, taking on a resurgent and experienced Premier League side in Burnley.

He said: “When you come out from a game against Tottenham and play really well, you are confident as a team.

“We know this game is completely different than our last one. We have to prepare well this week and know that this game will be different.

“We’re working on it all week and preparing our next opponent like all the weeks before, so I am sure we will be well prepared for the game.”

Finally, the next time that the defender and the squad walk out on home turf, it will be in front of fans. Koch can’t wait to experience a small taste of what Elland Road can offer with supporters in attendance.

“For me, it was so nice to be here at the beginning of the season, but I would love to play in front of fans here.

“I hear that when the stadium is full of supporters, it is amazing. I am still waiting for this moment, hopefully it is coming soon."
