The defender has extended his Eintracht Frankfurt contract two years ahead of schedule, signing a deal until 2030.
Eintracht Frankfurt have retained the services of key senior player Robin Koch, extending the 28-year-old's contract, which was originally due to expire in 2027, by a further three years until 2030. The centre-back has worn the Eintracht shirt for the last two years, having initially joined on loan from Leeds United for the 2023/24 season before then signing permanently for the Hessian club.
Koch, who recently played the full 90 minutes in Germany’s two UEFA Nations League matches against Portugal and France, has made 85 competitive appearances for the Eagles to date, registering seven goals and four assists. The vice-captain featured in 43 games last season and played 3,735 minutes, the most of any player in Dino Toppmöller’s squad.
Board member for sport Markus Krösche said: “The talks have been intensive because it was also a very important decision for Robin. He feels extremely settled here and we’re very happy that he’s committed to us. We’ve managed to tie down an absolutely key player, which is an important statement. Robin is an important component of Eintracht Frankfurt and has played a big part in our success, helping to lead this very young team. We’ve achieved extraordinary things together, and on top of that he’s become a German international again. Frankfurt is the right place for him and he’s the right player for us. It’s very important for the development of this young team that Robin stays.”
“I often listen to my gut feeling, and in this case it told me fairly early on that it was only right to extend my contract,” explained Koch. “I learned in a short space of time that everything here is very special: the team, the solidarity, our stadium and our fans. I’m therefore really proud and happy to be a part of that for longer. By finishing third last season, we achieved something that was unsurpassed for Eintracht Frankfurt. Playing in the Champions League again next season is special for the club, for the city and also for me. I want us to back up our performances in the coming years and have a big say in all competitions. I want to help and lead the way in that regard. Eintracht Frankfurt was exactly the right place for me two years ago and it still is now. There’s lots I still want to achieve here.”
