Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini looks set to miss the Nerazzurri’s Serie A opener against Genoa, and could also miss subsequent matches through injury.

This according to Italian news outlet L’Interista, who report that the 27-year-old is set to be out for approximately a month as he recovers from an MCL strain suffered during training.

The Nerazzurri are beginning to seriously ramp up preparations for the beginning of the season, with their Serie A campaign set to kick off in just over three weeks, with a home fixture against Genoa on August 21.

New manager Simone Inzaghi will hope to have the entire squad available to him during his first competitive match in charge of the Nerazzurri, but it now looks like he will be at least one player light in central midfield, with Gagliardini set to miss the match, as well as the subsequent match away to Hellas Verona.

The midfielder’s injury is not thought to be serious enough to rule him out for more than approximately a month, but the club will not want to rush him back to action and risk aggravating the strain.
