Jordan Veretout (31), Chancel Mbemba (29) and Samuel Gigot (30) have been told by Roberto De Zerbi to find a new club this summer, according to L’Équipe. In addition to Pau López, the trio have been placed in the ‘loft’ at Olympique de Marseille as a result of being made surplus to requirements at the Stade Vélodrome.
The former Brighton manager has not been afraid to make changes in his first few weeks in charge of OM. This includes his playing squad with De Zerbi wanting to change 80% of Marseille’s recognised starting eleven from last season, L’Équipe reports. Several steps to achieve that goal have already been reached with incoming and outgoing.
Les Olympiens have been busy with incoming thus far with Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emile Højberg arriving on the South of France in high-profile moves. Eddie Nketiah and Hwang-Hee Chan could be set to follow them in switching the Premier League for Ligue 1. However, to fund De Zerbi’s planned spending several departures will have to be made and the trio recently placed in the loft may contribute to this.
