Roberto De Zerbi could reunite with former player at Marseille | OneFootball

Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival at Olympique de Marseille has finally been confirmed. Minor administrative details had held up the Italian’s appointment as the successor to Jean-Louis Gasset, however, with De Zerbi now in place, OM can now put their transfer market plans into effect.

Marseille are already making moves with the club confirming that an agreement had been reached to sign Ismaël Koné (22) from Watford. More reinforcements are being targeted in midfield, including a familiar face to De Zerbi, Manuel Locatelli (26).

Marseille to negotiate Locatelli loan deal

According to Foot Mercato, Marseille are working to sign the Italy international. Locatelli himself is open to leaving Juventus this summer and the Italian giants are keen to offload some midfielders, with Douglas Luiz and Khéphren Thuram potentially incoming.

Should De Zerbi be reunited with Locatelli, a player with whom he worked at Sassuolo, the deal could take the form of a paid loan with an option to make the move permanent. Discussions between Les Phocéens and Juventus will take place in the coming weeks.
