It’s a prize which has previously eluded him but on Tuesday, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski will finally get his hands on the European Golden Shoe.
Lewandowski broke the legendary Gerd Müller’s single-season scoring record with 41 goals in the Bundesliga last season, meaning he comfortably outscored the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2020/21.
The Polish striker averaged 1.5 goals per game and only failed to score in four of his 29 Bundesliga appearances as Bayern claimed a ninth successive title.
His 41-goal haul represents the highest tally in Europe since Ronaldo netted 48 times for Real Madrid in 2014/15 and on Tuesday, Lewandowski will be presented with the Golden Shoe in a live stream on the official Bundesliga website.
