After failing to secure a transfer just six months ago, Robert Lewandowski has now said he wants to end his career at Bayern Munich.
The 30-year-old had hoped to leave the club in the summer but they were unwilling to sell him.
Now, Lewandowski has said he can imagine ending his career at the Allianz Arena.
“For me, it’s definitely an option to end my career at Bayern,” the striker told SportBILD.
“I’m not thinking about a transfer. I’ll admit that, in the summer, other things were going on, but that’s over.”
Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry, 34 and 35 respectively, are both set to leave Bayern in the summer. The pair could retire from the game completely and Lewandowski has now said he seems himself taking a similar route.
“It’s possible that I stay here for a long time,” the Pole added.
“I completely identify with Bayern.
“I feel that, with all the rumours and problems off the table, I’m at Bayern wholeheartedly. 100 per cent.”
Lewandowski has scored 24 times in all competitions so far this season, including eight in six Champions League appearances.
Bayern have been linked with the likes of Timo Werner and Luka Jović, who could join in the club next summer. However, it seems either of the young strikers would have to be patient to oust Lewandowski out of his place.
