Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal are two of the most important players in this Barcelona squad. Both of them have played every single game in this season, and are performing at a very high level at this early phase of the season.
The two players also have developed a very good rapport with one another, which is visible both on and off the pitch.
As SPORT has reported, this good relationship between the two forwards was on display once again as the Polish striker appeared in an interview with BR Football. In this interview, Lewandowski described his young colleague as “the best winger in the world”, and showed his confidence in his further growth and development in the future:
“Of course, I see him as the best winger in the world, but he’s only 17 years old. A football career is long. Sometimes it’s not about how you start, but how you finish, and what matters is not just the next two or three years, but the next 10 to 15 years. By then, he’ll be 32, so you know what I mean.”
The Barcelona veteran star also had some words of advice for Yamal, and the rest of the players of his age group:
“When I look at the new generation, they face huge challenges, especially with social media. One day you’re a hero, and the next day you’re on the ground. I hope he stays strong for the long haul and doesn’t let what people say now—or in the future—affect him.”
“He needs to stay grounded and remember that football is a part of life to be enjoyed, and to bring happiness to the fans. In the end, he should understand that football is just one aspect of life. That’s my mindset, but maybe it’s easier for me to accept because I’m older.”
Specifically for Lamine, the 36-year-old Barcelona ace went on to advise him to take a long-term view towards his development:
“Right now, Lamine is at the peak of the hype, but what’s more important is that the people around him stay level-headed and explain to him that football isn’t just about these few moments. It’s about the next 10, 15, or maybe even 17 years ahead.”
. Hopefully, Yamal will put a good ear to what his more experienced colleague is saying, and take the necessary steps to ensure this problem does not impact his career in any drastic way.
