According to Bild, Bayern boss Niko Kovač has made changes within the Bayern hierarchy.

Striker Robert Lewandowski will now have more responsibility at the club as he has reportedly been named Bayern’s third captain behind Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller.

“I’ve already been captain of the Polish national team for several years,” Lewandowski told the German outlet.

“That’s how I can help at Bayern; I have the experience. I know what you have to say in certain situations and have no fear of expressing my opinion.”

Neuer and Müller have held their leadership roles ever since Philipp Lahm retired in 2017.

Last year, while Neuer and Müller were both injured, former boss Jupp Heynkes opted to give the armband to the longest-tenured player on the pitch.

At this past weekend’s Telekom Cup, with many of Bayern’s stars absent from the line-up, Thiago wore the armband.
