Robert Lewandowski was never Real Madrid’s first-choice when it came to signing a striker, the player’s former agent has claimed.

As one of the top attackers in European football, the Pole’s name has often surfaced when talk comes to Los Blancos’ targets.

However, while reports suggest Lewandowski changed representatives to force a move – he is now with ‘super agent’ Pini Zahavi – the transfer has never materialised as Bayern are reluctant to part with a top scorer.

Despite selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, the Spanish side elected to re-sign Mariano Díaz from Lyon.

Cesary Kucharski, the man whose services he parted with, insists a move for Lewandowski was never likely and told Sport1: “For Real Madrid, Robert was never the first choice.”

Now 30-year-old and contracted to the German giants until 2021, his ex-agent believes finds it hard to see the Bayern board ever doing a deal and added: “Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness have a lot of experience, they were footballers themselves and can therefore understand the perspective and responsibility of the footballer.

“They understand that footballers are different from those who have to make decisions.

“Robert is a professional and likes to play at Bayern.”

Lewandowski has scored 159 goals in 204 appearances for the Bundesliga champions having joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
