Robert Lewandowski was back in Munich for one final time today as he said his final goodbyes to his former teammates and staff.

Speaking to Sky Germany, the Polish international said: “I said goodbye to everyone! There were gifts for everyone. I thanked everyone, also for the support – for everything they did for me. Now I can leave with a clear conscience.”

Before his eventual move to Barcelona this summer, Lewandowski’s relationship with Bayern’s hierarchy seemed to be dwindling.

For some time, Bayern were unwilling to lower their asking price for the 33-year-old despite the player himself expressing his eagerness to leave now rather than on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

During the interview, Lewandowski went on to say: “Those were emotional moments for me! Also difficult for me. I will never forget what I got here and what I experienced here. That was the most important thing for me! I can now look ahead after thanking everyone.”

Images also showed the forward having a pleasant conversation with sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić before leaving the training ground this morning.

In total, Lewandowski scored 344 goals in 375 games for Bayern Munich and will be regarded as one of their all-time top scorers.
