Robert Lewandowski drawn on who could replace him at Barcelona next summer

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski was this week drawn on an altogether interesting topic, during an interview with Mundo Deportivo.
As much saw the Pole asked to choose a player whom he feels would be capable of acting as his long-term replacement in Catalunya’s capital.
Frontman Lewandowski is of course fresh off another productive campaign in Barcelona colours, culminating in a club-leading 42 goals across all competitions.
The fact remains, however, that the former Bayern Munich man is set to turn 37 later this summer.
Discussion has in turn long been in circulation in Barcelona, surrounding just who could be brought in to act as Lewandowski’s successor upon the conclusion of his contract in 2026.
Speaking during an interview with the aforementioned MD this week, the subject of as much was in turn put to the veteran goalscorer himself.
Specifically, Lewandowski was asked:
“If the club asked you for your opinion, which player would you recommend as your replacement at Barça?”
After the Polish international avoided the question, he was then again questioned:
“But based on your taste in football, which player would you see playing Lewandowski at Barça once he decides to leave?”
From here, Lewandowski explained:
“It’s not an easy task, you know? You don’t have many strikers in football these days, also because of money. I haven’t seen many players so far who have played at their best for more than two or three years and scored more than 40 goals. That’s why I think the overall goal-scoring level has dropped a bit, as was evident last season. Right now, it’s not easy to find a player who can…”
