Robert Lewandowski (35) has revealed in an exclusive interview with Le Parisien that he is looking forward to a special return to Dortmund this summer when Poland faces France in EURO 2024.

France and Poland will play the Netherlands and Austria before meeting each other in Dortmund on the last matchday of a difficult group. Despite this match looking as if it could have a lot riding on it for both teams, Lewandowski was overjoyed by the fact that he would be returning to a stadium that he had become all too familiar with during his time with Borussia Dortmund from 2010 until 2014.

Of course, this won’t be the first time since leaving Dortmund that Lewandowski has visited the stadium. His move to rivals Bayern Munich in 2014 meant that he was a frequent visitor and villain to the Signal Iduna Park. However, it is clear that the stadium and the club still hold an important place in Lewandowski’s heart.

‘I know everything about this stadium’ – Robert Lewandowski

As the Polish international explains, “For me, it’s going to be a very special match! I can’t wait to be there. Not because it’s the Euro, not because it’s France, but because this match will take place in Dortmund.”

Lewandowski continues, “I know everything about this stadium and I think the emotion of playing on this pitch again will give me power… We know that France are the favourites to win the Euro. It’s a big challenge, but we are ready and we’ll fight until the last minute.”
