Don’t worry Bayern Munich fans, your star man will be ready and raring to go after the winter break.

Top scorer Robert Lewandowski spent the first half of the campaign hitting an incredible 30 goals in all competitions before Christmas.

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, it emerged that the 31-year-old did so while nursing an ongoing groin problem.

He used the downtime of the break to undergo an operation to correct it and has insisted that there are no lingering issues.

“The operation went well and there were no problems,” Lewandowski told Sport Bild.

There were still concerns though, given that the Pole did not travel with his team-mates for Bayern’s warm-weather training camp in Doha.

“It isn’t an issue. It was simply better for me to train individually and work on things,” he added.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be fit for the first game in Berlin if everything goes according to plan. Everything went as hoped.”

Bayern’s first game after the break sees them travel to the capital to take on Hertha BSC on Sunday, 19 January.
