An intense Superclásico saw River Plate defeat their rivals 2-0 in the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas.
Boca Juniors started better off and had the first shot when Pablo PĂ©rez tested River Plate goalkeeper Franco Armani from distance. Armani was very confident in the first of his many saves.
Despite the good start, Cardona committed an innocent foul inside the box in the 16th minute. Pity MartĂnez converted the penalty and it was 0-1 for River.
Boca were stunned after the opening goal and struggled to get it together afterward.  Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s side held River from inflicting more damage and went into the half down a goal.
River Plate kicked off the break after 45 minutes, with a delayed start due to some problems with the referee’s intercom system.
After the restart, Boca got closer and created more danger in front of Armani’s goal, but the Colombian was huge tonight and won the hearts of River fans with several match-saving interventions.
Boca would not be able to make the most of their 66% possession advantage. In the 70th minute, the substitute Nacho Scocco doubled River’s advantage. Instead of a party for Carlos Tévez, River would celebrate as champions.
