The 21st round of the Brazilian Championship ended with a mix of frustration and relief for Vasco relief. Despite the home defeat to Corinthians, the club was "helped" by parallel results. Home defeat complicates the situation

Vasco couldn't do its part over the weekend. The 3-2 defeat to Corinthians at São Januário kept the team with 19 points. The result left the team vulnerable. The permanence outside the Z4, therefore, came to depend on the stumble of its direct opponents.

The help came from a Rio de Janeiro rival. Botafogo beat Juventude 3-1. With that, the team from Caxias do Sul, which could overtake Vasco with a victory, stalled at 18 points. The defeat of the competitor was what kept the Giant of the Hill out of the relegation zone.

Vasco remains out of the relegation zone by a thread

With the end of the round, Vasco remains in 16th place, with 19 points. The situation, however, is extremely delicate. The club has the same score as Vitória, which is in 17th place, within the Z4. The Cruzmaltina advantage is only in the tiebreaker criteria. The relief of the round, therefore, does not erase the warning sign, which remains on in São Januário.
