Barcelona great Rivaldo can't see Lionel Messi being allowed to leave without a fight.

Rivaldo believes Messi will not be granted a release from his contract.

He said: "It's normal that after a game like the Bayern one many things go through the mind of the players and it could be that Messi has thought about leaving. But he wouldn't take such a big decision and all the rumours can destabilise the club more.

"Surely he's sad and hurt by this result and the 19-20 campaign but he's grateful to Barcelona, he has his life in the city and one day he will stop playing football and live in Barcelona.

"I don't think he'd take that decision before speaking to the board. It's a relationship for many years that has given much to both sides of it. Messi will not leave without a transfer fee. That's my opinion taking into account his personality and what he's shown through the years."
