Japan international Ritsu Doan is expected to join Bundesliga side Freiburg from PSV Eindhoven in the coming week for a fee less than €10m, according to Kicker.
The German outlet cites Dutch reports that the 24-year-old is likely to return to the Bundesliga this season, with Christian Streich’s Freiburg leading the way.
In May, fellow Bundesliga side Mainz reached an agreement with Doan but despite ongoing negotiations, had been unable to reach an agreement with PSV.
Doan would become the third signing for Freiburg this summer after Matthias Ginter joined from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer. SCF also completed the signing of Daniel-Kofi Kyereh from 2. Bundesliga side St. Pauli on Monday for €4.5m.
Doan has Bundesliga experience having spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Arminia Bielefeld before returning to PSV. The attacking-midfielder scored 11 and created three in 39 games for PSV in all competitions last season.
