Monaco are timing their run up the standings to perfection, and one of the players at the heart of the upturn – starring in the recent 3-2 at Rennes – is a young Brazilian named Vanderson.

The 20-year-old, who joined in January from Gremio, was scintillating on the right wing as Monaco clinched their fourth-straight win. It was Vanderson's 12th game for the principality club, and the €11m recruit displayed the full array of his talents…  After scoring a superb opener, he set up the third goal for Myron Boadu.

Monaco look to have captured another gem.

"He's still a young player but he is very intelligent," Monaco coach Philippe Clement told the Ligue 1 Show on beIN SPORTS. "He's been here just two months and he already understands French.'

Vanderson made his Ligue 1 Uber Eats bow against Nantes on 9 January, and the Brazilian netted his first goal in splendid fashion against Montpellier two weeks later. Versatility

Blessed with excellent technique, Vanderson's speed and intelligence mean he can slot in at right-back, right wing or play in a more familiar midfield role. "Wherever he plays, he's always available for the team," continued Clément. "He's not a natural winger, but when he plays there he does a good job. He's growing with every game he plays." In Round 32, Vanderson became the youngest player since Kylian Mbappé five years ago to score and assist in a Ligue 1 Uber Eats game. If the gifted Brazilian youngster can keep it up, he may well be playing Champions League football with Monaco next season. Some great results will be needed to reach that objective, starting with the Round 34 trip to Saint-Etienne on Saturday night.
