After being surrounded by hype for so long, 19-year-old Riqui Puig finally made his Barcelona first-team debutĀ against Cultural Leonesa on Wednesday night and it was one to remember.
Puig came on forĀ Oriol Busquets in the 55th minute and produced a display that will live long in the memory.
Despite only being on for just 35 minutes, Puig was fouled more times than anyone else on the pitch.
Puigās moment of the match came in the 70th minuteĀ when he supplied a lovely chipped pass toĀ Denis SuĆ”rez to create the teamās fourth goal ā fueling instant comparisons toĀ AndrĆ©s Iniesta.
āItās a debut I dreamed about,ā Puig said after Barcelona advanced to the Copa del Rey round-of-16.
āA win and an assist on top of how well the team played. I used to come to the Camp Nou when I was three years old, imagining what it would be like to play here.
āErnesto [Valverde] has given me the opportunity and the reality is a dream come true.
Given that heās managed to make Lionel Messi feel āastonishedā watching him in training, itās safe to say that this young ladās future is looking awfully bright.
