Aitken died at the age of 81 and all our thoughts are with his family and friends at this awful time.

Charlie was a left-back who made an astonishing 660 games for Villa, 657 of those being starts with just 3 substitution appearances.

He played during 17 years at Aston Villa between 1959 to 1976. He then departed for the US where he spent one year with New York Cosmos.

During his time at Aston Villa, he won the Third division title and the League Cup.

Project B6 have asked Aston Villa fans to turn on their phone torch during the third minute of our upcoming game against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday 26th November. This is to honour Charlie Aitken.

Rest in Peace, Charlie.
