Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson was left stunned by how little of a threat Spurs proved to be against Wolves.

Our place inside the top four slipped away with defeat against Gary O’Neil’s side and three points for Aston Villa against Fulham.

And it was a game which will leave Ange Postecoglou with a lot to think about as his men never really looked a threat.

Wolves stun Tottenham

Going into the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the north London side will have been all too familiar with what their opponents were capable of.

We suffered late heartbreak at Molineux earlier in the season when two stoppage time goals saw three points quickly snatched away.

The game on Saturday saw Spurs dominate possession – ending the game with 71% of the ball – but only manage four shots on target.

And speaking on Sky Sports News [17:38] Dawson shared his concerns about Tottenham’s toothless display: ‘I mean it’s ridiculous. Look at that, 29% possession Wolves had, but they set-up well. So what Spurs did, how do we break a team that play low block? Well they didn’t,’ he said.

Spurs lacking in final third

It really was a poor attacking performance on an afternoon where Tottenham were able to pull second in a Premier League record for goalscoring.

Dejan Kulusevski’s early second half striker will have certainly provided optimism that a blunt first 45 minutes was put behind them.

But the reality was we never really stepped it up after the goal 30 seconds into the second period.

Perhaps the absences of Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro who are suffering with respective injury issues can provide some reasoning behind the attacking issues.

Porro alone has already offered Spurs an impressive eight assists in the Premier League this term.

We now have a break from action and do not play again until March when we return to N17 to play Crystal Palace and a statement performance will be expected.
