Sheffield Wednesday's fans haven't been happy with their owner for some time, and former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has said that he would be interested in buying the club from Dejphon Chansiri, if he wanted to get back into football ownership.

The former owner of the London-based club, who is now best known for his work on radio, co-hosting White & Jordan on talkSPORT, revealed his thoughts on the Owls on the radio show. He said: "In my book, one of the questions I'm asking myself is, if I was to buy another football club, which one would I buy?

"One of the clubs I mentioned was Sheffield Wednesday because it's got huge potential, it's a huge area, it's got a huge catchment, it's got a huge support base, it's a proper football club in a proper area.

"If you wanted to build that football club and embrace the fans, you would be able to achieve it."

The Sun reported, in November, that Chansiri had no plans to sell the club, even if they end up getting relegated back to League One after just one season in the second tier. But what would fans make of a proposed move to take over the club by Jordan?

Football League World'sWednesday fan pundit, Callum Maxted, has given his verdict on the talkSPORT personality's remarks about owning the club.

Maxted said that he would rather have the former Palace owner in charge than the current regime, but he doesn't see it actually happening.

"Yeah, I think I would to be honest [prefer Jordan over Chansiri]. But it was all hypothetical anyway, so I don't see him having the funds to buy the football club. I think he was just making the point that we are an asset to someone who would want to buy the club.

"The idea that we aren't a sellable asset to anyone is ridiculous. We might not be asset-rich, but I think that there is a level of stability, or there needs to be one, and that's going to come when the current ownership aren't at the club.

"We've been on too much of a turbulent passage over the last eight years, and we need a bit of security, safety; someone who is going to put money into the club and change our fortunes.

"It's the structure as well. I think it needs to change, and that goes back to the fact that Danny [Röhl] needs to know that he isn't doing everything, and not everything is being put on him.

"He needs to share that workload, and I think that is really important."

New owners would be able to elevate Sheffield Wednesday's ceiling

In a statement in September, Chansiri said that he would not be putting any more money into the club because he felt that he was being treated unfairly by fans. They had started the current campaign awfully, after Xisco Munhoz was appointed to replace Darren Moore, and a one-way ticket back to the third tier looked to be the only way that the Owls were going.

But things have turned around. Yes, they haven't been outside of the relegation zone all season, but Röhl has given them a fighting chance of staying up with just four games to go.

It will be a challenge to keep hold of him due to the interest from the likes of Sunderland, but, if they can get him to stick around, then he could help the club grow massively.

Combine that with new owners who are willing to come in and invest their money into improving the club, then Wednesday would be on to something really good. Until that time comes, though, they may be limited by their custodians.
