It has been some start to the season for Excelsior’s 20-year-old Swedish striker Richie Omorowa. In six games this season, the young forward has already scored six goals. This includes a double over VVV-Venlo yesterday evening in a 4-0 win for the recently relegated side. Last season the forward played 24 games for the side in the Eredivisie, grabbing two goals and two assists. Thanks to the goals of Omorowa, Excelsior sit second in the league with an impressive 17 goals in six games.

Formerly of the AIK academy in Stockholm, Omorowa moved across the Swedish capital to join Brommapojkarna in the summer of 2021. In 27 games for the side, the then teenager scored five goals and caught the eye of Excelsior. The club signed him last summer and are now reaping the rewards. According to data collected by FotMob, the striker has only taken six shots this season.

Omorowa is forming a formidable tandem with Jacky Donkor and teenage winger Seydou Fini. Donkor already has three goals this season, while on loan Fini has one goal and one assist. Providing Omorowa has been the job of midfielder Noah Naujoks, who has four assists, and full-back Ilias Bronkhorst who has three.

This start will delight fans who are hoping for an immediate return to the top flight. If Omorowa continues this remarkable run of form, expect to see plenty of interest in him this summer. His current contract expires this summer, but Transfermarkt are indicating that the club have an option for a further year.
