Richarlison came to Everton from Watford over the summer for an often-criticised €40m fee that could potentially rise to €45m with add-ons.

Though there was much outrage from Everton fans when his deal was announced, he has only gone and paid the Toffees back to the tune of eight goals and an assist through 15 Premier League appearances.

When asked about what made him make the switch to Everton, he told Premier League Brasil that it was all to do with Everton boss Marco Silva.

The Portuguese manager brought him to Watford last summer from Fluminense for about €13m and switched to Everton after a 14th-placed finish with the Hornets.

“Oh, Marco Silva. Marco Silva was pretty much the guy who brought me here to England, he was the guy who called me directly on the phone just like (Brazil manager) Tite did.”

Since arriving in England, the 21-year-old says he’s had no problem adjusting to his new life.

“Wherever I go to, I get on very well. Because with me there’s no getting to a place and complaining about things. So I come here, I feel like I’m in Brazil.”

“So that makes it easy for me on the pitch, my teammates also help me a lot, there’s Bernard, there’s [Yerry] Mina, and that makes it easier for me.”

Upon his arrival at Everton, Richarlison says he felt at home from the very beginning.

“I was very happy. The fans here welcomed me very well. I already have a song.”

However, the Brazilian is still having a tough time with the Scouse accent.

“For me, it’s all difficult (laughs). This English is hard to get into my head.”

While the English may be hard to get into his head, the memory of watching his native Brazil get thrashed by Germany 7-1 during the 2014 World Cup is something that haunts him to this day.

However, after earning his first call-up to the national team earlier in the year, Richarlison has vowed to get revenge.

“I remember until today that in the 2014 World Cup I was watching and there was a Brazilian there cheering against Brazil.

“When Brazil were thrashed by Germany, I went to my room, I started to cry there, because I wanted Brazil to be champion.

“The guy was abusing me still, I just did not beat him because he was stronger than me.”

“But it was something I remember until today, this will be forever in my memory. And the guy who abused as well.

“But now I’m in the national team, I’m going to do my best to win the title and say: I want to see you laughing now.”
