Richarlison has lashed out at reports that he may have played a role in Antonio Conte's recent departure from Tottenham.

Argentinian outlet TyC Sports recently claimed that both Richarlison and Cristian Romero had given ultimatums to Tottenham over Conte's future, threatening to force exits from the club unless the manager was dismissed.

A number of fans soon began criticising the two players but Richarlison has taken to social media to set the record straight and dismiss the story altogether.

"Questioning and criticising me as a player for my performance is part of football and I get that," the Brazilian said. "However, telling lies about me, I don't accept! I've always had a lot of respect for Conte and for all my coaches.

"He helped me a lot in my arrival at Spurs and, whenever we had a problem (even if it was public) we solved it based on conversation and professionalism - and this he can confirm.

"I wasn't a mutiny leader against him, it was quite the opposite. I'm sorry I didn't deliver as much as he expected of me and I didn't do enough for him to stay. When he left, I sent him a message thanking him for everything and wishing him the best cause that's what he deserves!

"On the other hand, the journalist responsible for this awful lie did not even do the least which would be talking to my PR or listening to me. Bad professional and bad character! And shame on you, TyC Sports!"

Richarlison is not the first Spurs player to express regret for their form under Conte, with fellow forward Son Heung-min recently confessing he felt 'responsible' for the Italian's departure.

With Conte now gone, Spurs have been left under the temporary control of his former assistant, Cristian Stellini, while those in charge begin the search for a full-time replacement.

Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino are both understood to be open to taking the job but would prefer to wait until the end of the summer, with both out-of-work bosses keeping one eye on Carlo Ancelotti's situation at Real Madrid.
