There are fears that Richard Sánchez’s muscular injury in his left leg could be much worse than originally feared as it’s now believed he could miss the rest of the season.
The Paraguayan Football Association was able to confirm that the Paraguayan midfielder’s injury will keep him out of international duty next week and he will not feature in the games against Chile and Colombia.
It’s a significant blow for his national team as well since Sánchez has featured in five of their last six games as they attempt to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Fortunately for Club América, they have already clinched the top seed, meaning they will not be dependent on this weekend’s result against Rayados or have to feature in the first round of play-offs.
This means that Sánchez will have nearly a month to recover but it will be a race against time if he is to feature in the Eagles’ chase for their 14th Liga MX title.
