Charlton Athletic will face Wycombe Wanderers in the semi-final stages of the League One play-offs this season.

The Addicks secured a top four finish in the table with a 3-1 win over Burton Albion on the final day of the campaign, coming one point ahead of their upcoming opponents.

The two sides met as recently as 21 April, with the London outfit securing an emphatic 4-0 win away from home.

Nathan Jones will be hoping for a similar performance and result this Sunday when they again travel to Wycombe for the first leg of their semi-final clash.

When asked which one Wycombe player do they fear most, FLW’s Charlton fan pundit Sam White named Richard Kone.

While he believes the Addicks have no one to fear if they play as well as they did in that 4-0 win, he still believes Kone poses the most significant threat, should he be fit to feature.

“The Wycombe player I fear the most has got to be Richard Kone,” White told Football League World.

“And there’s a lot of rumours he might be out injured or that he was being rested, but he’s definitely the one to watch.

“However, he was playing when we beat them 4-0, so really we’ve got no one to fear as long as we play our own game and we dictate play.

“But definitely Richard Kone.”

Kone did not feature for Wycombe during their final day 3-1 defeat to Stockport County, but has proven a significant threat for the team throughout this season, scoring 18 times from 41 appearances in League One.

Charlton have momentum on their side against Wycombe

Charlton’s form going into the play-offs is a stark contrast to Wycombe’s, who lost their last three games of the regular season.

Meanwhile, Jones’ side won four of their last five, including that 4-0 hammering of their upcoming opponents.

If they can maintain that level of performance going into their semi-final clash, then they will be the obvious favourites.

However, it’s players like Kone that can make a difference, and form can often go out the window in the play-offs.
