Ricardo Rodriguez’s agent Haroon Masoodi confirms Inter have discussed the possible signing of the Swiss defender, but owners ‘are looking at other profiles.’

Swiss defender Ricardo Rodriguez, a former Milan and Torino defender, is available on a free transfer after the end of his contract with the Granata, but his agent does not expect to receive an offer from Inter despite talks with the Nerazzurri directors.

“There were talks with the sporting director [Piero Ausilio] a few weeks ago,” Masoodi told Inter-news.it.

“Inzaghi likes Ricardo, but we haven’t received any offers. I think the owners are looking at other profiles.

“We received offers from Dubai, specifically from Al-Ain, Real Betis and Turkish clubs,” continued the defender’s agent.

“Olympiacos asked for information, but offers have not been good enough so far.”

Inter have already signed Mehdi Taremi, Piotr Zielinski and Josep Martinez but are looking for a new defender, especially after seeing Tajon Buchanan suffer a tibia injury while on international duty with Canada.

However, the club’s new owners want to invest in a young defender rather than in players over 30 such as Rodriguez.

The versatile 31-year-old defender has made 194 Serie A appearances, scoring two goals and providing five assists.

He’s been playing as a left wingback and centre-back in a three-man defence, the same role he played during the Euros with the Swiss national team.

Rodriguez started each of Switzerland’s five EURO 2024 games, but England eliminated his national team in the quarter-finals on penalties.
