José Juan Macías has been simply sensational since joining Club León on loan from Chivas, which has led Chivas to put a $15m price tag on his head in what’s been an extraordinarily complicated case.

On Monday, TUDN reported that the Pachuca Group, who own Pachuca, Zacatecas and León, have agreed to send Víctor Guzmán and Érick Aguirre in exchange for the 20-year-old striker.

However, on Tuesday, Chivas sporting director Ricardo Peláez set the record straight.

“We are going to wait, I don’t want to anticipate anything because we are working on negotiations.

“I want to clarify: Everything you are going to see in this period of reinforcements has been made with phone calls from president to president.

“That’s how it is done, that’s my way of working.

“The strong investment is going to be made now and from there. It is always good to renew one or two players, perhaps because of the circumstances.

“We will have a great squad and very good options at every important position.”

Since joining León on loan, Macías has scored 18 goals in 38 games and helped his side reach last season’s Liguilla final.
