Ricardo Cadena’s tenure as Chivas manager will reportedly come to an end if he fails to guide his side to victory in Saturday’s Clásico Tapatío against Atlas.

The Flock head into this weekend’s derby second from bottom in the Apertura table, having taken just five points from their opening seven games.

Atlas only have seven points, but Cadena’s counterpart Diego Cocca has plenty of credit in the bank after back-to-back Liga MX titles.

Chivas have endured a difficult time against their Guadalajara neighbours in recent seasons, and have not won this Clásico since an opening day victory in the 2020 Apertura.

In order to reverse that trend Los Rojiblancos desperately need to find some attacking verve, as they are the league’s lowest scorers to date with just four goals.

It would be safe to say that the Chivas hierarchy are not confident ahead of Saturday’s game, with RÉCORD reporting that they already have reserve team manager Gerardo Espinoza lined up to take over on an interim basis.

Cadena will be hoping for a massive result that would save his job, at least for a little while longer.
