Ricardo Cadena downplayed the significance of a late-season slump that saw Chivas lose the final three games of their regular season Apertura campaign.
A 2-1 defeat to Cruz Azul on Saturday came on the back of losses to América and Tigres, which meant the Flock finished in ninth spot.
Manager Cadena admitted his side are struggling at both ends of the pitch, but said that they simply need to make the most of the occasions when they find themselves on top in games.
“The team has those periods where you dominate the game, but you can’t be effective when you’re in the area and because of the previous games,” Chivas boss Cadena said afterwards, per RÉCORD.
“What should we do, then be more attentive in the defensive zone, take care of all the aspects that have prevented us from that they do not convert us goals and obviously in the opposite area to be that team with the forcefulness.”
Los Rojiblancos will try to qualify for La Liguilla by progressing through the repechaje next weekend.
