Chivas manager Ricardo Cadena has lambasted the standard of refereeing in Liga MX after Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Toluca.
There were no goals at the Estadio Nemesio Díez, but there was no shortage of controversy.
The Flock were awarded a penalty with around 10 minutes to go for a push in the area, only for referee César Arturo Ramos to reverse his decision after a VAR review.
To add further salt in the wound, Cristian ‘Chicote’ Calderón then had his brilliant strike from distance chalked off for offside after yet another VAR intervention.
“It’s unnecessary to talk about refereeing, it’s enough. I’m not going to talk about that part anymore, it’s incredible,” a visibly annoyed Cadena said afterwards.
Turning to his own side’s performance, Cadena said: “Today we are approaching the final stretch of the tournament and face opponents like Toluca where you compete against them to find the result and if in the end you take a point you can consider it as good or because they also did a good job.
“It was a very good game. Even and that in the end it adds up more being a visit and from now on trying to get the points that allow us to get closer to the objective of qualifying (for the Liguilla),” he added.
While the result was a blow to the Flock’s hopes of finishing in the top four, the point does leave them in eighth place and well placed to finish in the top 12 and reach the play-offs.
