Marcus Rashford has said an ambitious Aston Villa team want to win the FA Cup after progressing to the semi-finals with a 3-0 win over Preston North End.
Rashford was on target twice as Aston Villa made light work of the Championship outfit to reach the last four for the first time in a decade. The 27-year-old’s brace ended a four-month wait to score as Rashford netted for the first time since his loan move to Villa.
He slotted in from Lucas Digne’s centre for the opener on 58 minutes, before confidently doubling the lead from the penalty spot after Morgan Rogers was brought down. Jacob Ramsey drilled in a late third as The Villans eased into the final four.
Rashford was delighted to get on the scoresheet and believes he is getting better and better since his loan arrival from Manchester United in January. The England forward said he is enjoying his football with Aston Villa, who are targeting a first FA Cup triumph since 1957. Villa will face Crystal Palace in the semi-finals next month.
“It’s a great feeling, I feel like I’ve been getting fitter and playing better football since I’ve been here. It’s always nice for a forward to get a goal so hopefully, it continues,” Rashford said to the BBC.
“We have to take it one game at a time and give it 100% on the pitch and see where it takes us. We’re very ambitious.
“Step by step. I think I can still get fitter. I missed a lot of football before joining up with them. My body feels good and I’m enjoying my football for now.”
