Reverend Sarah Guinness has been appointed as Brentford’s new club chaplain.

Sarah will provide support to Brentford players, staff and fans. Her role involves giving pastoral and spiritual care to the club’s community, regardless of faith.

A local to the Brentford area, she has been a rector for St Paul’s and St Faith’s churches since 2018.

Sarah was ordained as a Church of England priest 10 years ago. Before this, she worked as an occupational therapist in social services.

Sarah will be carrying out this voluntary part-time role alongside her position as the rector of Brentford.

She said: “Brentford is a club with a long, proud history, deeply rooted in this part of west London. Supporters can trace their loyalty back through decades, with generations of a family coming to matches together.

“The club is a big part of our community identity, with many Bees fans in my congregation, so it’s a real privilege to take on this role. I’m here for all the supporters, staff and players, whether they have faith or not, to come alongside and provide a listening ear.”

Sally Stephens, fan and community relations director at the club, said: “We’re delighted to have Sarah on board at the club as our chaplain. We cannot overlook the support and comfort that people need during the difficult times we may face in our lives. This affects everyone, whether you have faith or not.

“Sarah’s role as club chaplain provides a critical source of support for our Bees community, including players, staff and fans and we look forward to welcoming her to key club events as well as in her regular role at the training ground, office and stadium.”

Sarah succeeds our previous club chaplain Stuart Cashman, who sadly passed away last November after a long battle with illness.
