Inter Milan and AC Milan could receive a verdict in the investigation into their ultras groups in the middle of next week.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that a verdict is not imminent, and that the clubs will likely receive a fine but no sports sanctions.
Inter and Milan are still awaiting a verdict that will reveal what sanctions if any they receive in the investigation into their ultras groups.
Anti-mafia prosecutors have been investigating Inter ultras Curva Nord and their Milan counterparts Curva Sud.
This is in regards to allegations of criminal activities around matchdays as well as mafia ties.
The allegations against members of the ultras groups are very serious.
Prosecutors have made a total of nineteen arrests. High-profile ultras leaders are facing charges regarding behaviours relating to ticket sales and other matchday activities.
But it is not just the ultras who are part of the investigation.
Prosecutors have not opened any sort of criminal case into any official figures at Inter or Milan, to be clear.
However, the investigators are still looking how Inter and Milan may have facilitated alleged criminal activities by their ultras.
This would be through inaction, negligence, or allowing ultras to pressure them.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was among the high-profile figures at the clubs who investigators have interviewed regarding his relations with the ultras.
Prosecutors will decide whether there are any sanctions for Inter and Milan for facilitating the ultras.
According to the Gazzetta, there is virtually no chance of the clubs receiving sporting sanctions. In other words, no points deductions or similar punishments.
However, the newspaper anticipate, the clubs are likely to receive fines.
The Gazzetta report that it will still take some time. The verdict should arrive next week in midweek.
