Inter will head into their Serie A opener against Genoa with three notable absences due to injury.

There is wingback Tajon Buchanan. The Canadian will still be out for the foreseeable future due to sustaining a broken leg over the summer.

Then, the likes of Zielinski and de Vrij will also be absent.

That duo are among the Inter players to have picked up muscle injuries during preseason.

There is plenty of good news for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi on that front.

Strikers Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic are both back in full training after recovering from their respective muscle problems. They will be in the squad to face Genoa.

And then the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessandro Bastoni can start against the Grifone despite having been left out of Inter’s friendly against Chelsea as a precaution.

But both Zielinski and de Vrij are yet to return to full training after suffering thigh strains.

Zielinski & De Vrij Targeting Inter Returns In Next Couple Matches

In the case of Zielinski, the Polish international is already not far away from recovering.

Zielinski has not yet made a return to full training with the squad. He is still regaining fitness.

But there is little doubt that the 30-year-old should be available for Inter’s second match of the season against Lecce.

That would be too soon for de Vrij.

The former Lazio defender has not yet started training on the pitch.

But de Vrij’s recovery timeline should see him get back to training relatively soon.

According to Tuttosport, there is little doubt that de Vrij should be available for Inter’s third Serie A match of the campaign away to Atalanta.
